TBA's 2026 General Auditions brought together casting professionals, artistic directors, and over 250 local actors for a weekend of Bay Area talent. This year, we are partnered with A.C.T. to hold the General Auditions at the Strand Theater in San Francisco.

About Actor Selection at the 2026 General Auditions
Theatre Bay Area worked with a team of five highly skilled independent casting directors to select the actors for the 2026 General Auditions. Auditioning actors were selected based on several factors, representing a breadth of special skills, experience, and training, as well as casting type. The selection process was weighted toward casting types and skills in demand, based on auditor feedback and survey data.

What's Next for the TBA General Auditions?
Over Summer 2026, Theatre Bay Area is working to hold regional auditions in the North Bay and South Bay to help serve Bay Area actors and companies further outside San Francisco. Priority in the Regional Auditions will be given to actors who applied for the 2026 General Auditions and did not receive a live slot. More details will be posted soon so stay tuned!
The application for the 2027 General Auditions will open in Fall 2026 after the close of Bay Area Theatre Week!
