First published in 1976 as a mimeographed newsletter, Theatre Bay Area Magazine rose to become the flagship of our organization's communications services. In it, the Bay Area's theatre-makers and theatre-lovers could read about the community's news, successes and challenges. The magazine helped us strengthen and unify the thousands of individuals working to make our theatre community thrive.
As Theatre Bay Area transitions to an all-digital journalism format, we want to let readers know that much of what they loved about the magazine will move straight to the website. TBA's online journalism will continue to offer a wide range of content that is relevant, timely and community-focused. It will include feature stories on topics from new play development to audience engagement, "Editors' Picks" highlighting promising upcoming shows, interviews with notable local and visiting theatre artists and more. We are proud of our role in spreading the word about the multifaceted, vibrant Bay Area theatre community.
