General Auditions Dress Rehearsal 2020

Dress rehearsals for 2019 General Auditions: Monday, Jan 28 & Tuesday, Jan 29 at 6-8:15pm and 7:45-10pm (two different sessions each evening). Work with some phenomenal acting and singing coaches to prepare for your audition! Get into the Marines Memorial Theatre before your audition to practice in the space, and rehearse with the accompanist for the General Auditions!

Mon, Jan 27 @ 6 - 8:15 PM Contemporary and Classical Monologues with coach Meryl Shaw 

Meryl Shaw served as Casting Director at American Conservatory Theater for 17 years and has taught audition technique and led audition workshops for over 25 years. She has taught or guest lectured at several universities, including A.C.T., Rutgers, Carnegie-Mellon, Santa Clara University, San Jose State University, St. Mary’s College, and S.F. Academy of Art, as well as numerous theater companies

In addition to casting productions for A.C.T., Meryl has cast for the Magic Theatre, Huntington Theatre Company, Elektra at the Getty Villa in Los Angeles. She has also cast for several commercial San Francisco productions, including White Christmas, Jitney, and Picasso at the Lapin Agile.

Meryl received Positive Psychology life coaching certification from SFSU and offers life coaching as well as audition and acting coaching. She works one-on-one with actors and offers individual coaching and classes that integrate life and acting coaching.

Mon, Jan. 27 @ 7:45 - 10 PM: Contemporary and Classical Monologues with coach Patrick Russell 

Patrick Russell is an actor, director, teaching artist, and co-founder of The Actors Space SF. His work has been seen at Theatreworks (Frost/Nixon), Cal Shakes (As You Like It), SF Playhouse (Noises Off, Red Velvet), Aurora Theatre Company (Loot, A Bright New Boise, Body Awareness) Magic Theatre (Fool for Love) and Shotgun Players (Care of Trees), among others. Film credits include the feature, Being Us and the award-winning animated short, Rapunzel’s Etymology of Zero. Patrick also teaches acting and movement at UC Berkeley and ACT.. He has taught audition seminars and workshops at universities across the country, most recently, The Kennedy Center KCACTF Nationals. Patrick is a graduate of ACT’s Master of Fine Arts Program and a member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.

Ariela Morgenstern is an accomplished coach and performer who loves working with actors and professionals to help bring forth their authentic, vibrant presence. She teaches acting for singers at Singing Actor Studio in SF, as well as at the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre and Stanford University.  She also teaches Leadership Communications at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute.

Before returning home, Ariela spent a decade performing in NY and touring across the country. She was honored to win (2nd place) in the Kurt Weill Foundation’s International Lotte Lenya Competition, and be a soloist at Carnegie Hall (Imant Raminsh’s Symphony of Psalms).  More recently she performed the role of Momma Rose in Gypsy with Bay Area Musicals (BAM) and Eleanor Applebaum in A Walk On The Moon at A.C.T.
