Step 1: Join Theatre Bay Area as a Company Member
While virtually all of our resources are available to anyone in the industry, Theatre Bay Area Company Members get serious discounts on our services. Save cash. Join now.
Step 2: Post Audition Listings, Find Talent and Find Space
We maintain a huge talent bank of actors, directors, designers, technicians and freelancers. Post your audition notices & job postings early to make sure you recruit the best team to get the job done. Find rehearsal and performance space by visiting Bay Area Performing Arts Spaces (BAPAS) at BayAreaSpaces.org.
Step 3: Connect with Targeted Audiences
Plan ahead and join our Audience Database. You’ll get demographics on your patrons and have the chance to send direct mail to the lists of over 75 other arts and culture organizations in the Bay Area.
Step 4: Get Your Show Postcards Out!
Each month, Theatre Bay Area distributes thousands of show postcards to over 50 display racks at arts and culture centers in the East Bay, South Bay and San Francisco. Get your postcards in front of theatre-lovers by signing up for our PDN (Postcard Distribution Network).
Step 5: Submit Your Show for the TBA Awards
You should be recognized for the great work you do—join the TBA Awards Program! Your show will become eligible to receive the TBA Award Adjudicator “Recommended” designation, and possibly become a finalist for the yearly TBA Awards—maybe even take home an award!
Step 6: List Your Show with What’s Playing
Get your show listed in “What's Playing”—the most comprehensive listing of Bay Area theatre in existence.
Step 7: Reach the Press
Don’t waste time combing through mastheads. Buy our Sources of Publicity guide—a comprehensive listing of local reporters and reviewers.
Step 8: Advertise!
You can advertise your show on the Theatre Bay Area website; at the TIX Booth in Union Square; in our member newsletters and in our weekly Theatregoer newsletter, which reaches 20,000+ patrons. Each option gets your ad right in front of thousands of theatre-lovers.
Step 9: Offer Free or Discounted Tickets
An empty seat doesn’t talk up your show. Get butts in seats by offering free or discounted tickets to our members, and get that word of mouth going!
