Playwrights: Michael John LaChiusa, adptd from Federico García Lorca
Bernarda Alba tells the tales of a powerful matriarch who imposes a strict rule on her household following her second husband's funeral. Her five daughters' dreams and desires challenge the harsh rules, and the outside world begins to slowly permeate their isolated existence. Through pulsing castanets, trilling guitars and resounding rhythmic stomps, this work by Michael John LaChiusa brings a musical voice to Federico Garcia Lorca's final masterpiece.
